After two years of vigorous growth, The Garage has announced it’s first extended run as part of this year’s National Queer Arts Festival. The Garage's Artistic Director, Joe Landini has founded a new dance company called the San Francisco Moving Men and is producing Dancing @ The Garage. The new project will feature new choreography by Landini and guest choreographer Todd Courage.

The Garage has experienced phenomenal growth since opening in March 2007, the space has featured over 120 groups since opening and has hosted the SF Fringe Festival, the National Queer Arts Festival and  Footloose's Women on the Way Festival. The space has become especially well-known for its residency programs, RAW (resident artists' workshop) and AIRspace (queer arts residency program).

“I think this is an exciting opportunity for us. We really wanted to create a project that was accessible to both locals and San Francisco visitors and contemporary dance is really hot right now because of shows like 'Dancing With The Stars' and 'So You Think You Can Dance." says Landini

The SF Moving Men is a new company of male dancers that Landini created to showcase some of the Bay Area’s best male dancers, “There are some amazing men dancing in San Francisco right now and I really wanted to create a forum where we could highlight some of these incredible artists.”

The Garage is donating 50% of its ticket sales to local GLBT non-profits, “We’re in a great position to give back to the community that has been so generous to us. We’ve invited a different non-profit to co-host each of our performances and we’re donating 50% of whatever tickets they sell.” says Landini.
