Labayen Dance/SF

The Christmas Fundraising Event will treat all to a sneak preview of  the world premiere of Enrico Labayen’s  “Icarus at the Edge of Recession”  

    

Guest artists David Chase, former member of the Martha Graham Dance Company and Clover Mathis, former principal dancer with Dance Theatre of Harlem and Alvin Ailey Dance Company and Enrico Labayen, will essay the roles of Daedelous, The Sun and Icarus, respectively.

 

For tax deductable donation, Please make check out to Dance Brigade (Labayen Dance/SF’s fiscal sponsor) and write Labayen dance on the memo line.

Autistic kids forced into high school classes with gang bangers, and the teachers who try to channel the chaos into education.This physical theatre piece, through multiple viewpoints, unlocks the inner visions of the inhabitants of a high school of Developmentally and Behaviorally Disabled kids and their teachers.

detour dance presents Drift. In this dance film, a pair of vagabond’s hitchhikes, stumbles, and inch their way through striking landscapes. detour dance is led by Kat Cole and Eric Garcia, a San Francisco-based contemporary dance company that creates movement for the stage and film. Their works tackle the idiosyncrasies and quirky tenderness of human relationships set against the backdrop of our everyday lives.

Enrico Labayen presents en-Gulf-ed, which addresses the environmental impact of the BP Gulf Oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico on wildlife and environment. en-Gulf-ed, a work in process will premiere at Dance Mission Theatre's Manifes-tival on November 19-20, 2010.

FRIDA: Portrait, a work inspired by the self-portraits of the famous Mexican painter Frida Kahlo.

Paco Gomes & Dancers

Paco Gomes and Dancers Present Amor O: A series of new and favorite dance works around the theme of Love. Paco Gomes and guest choreographers Jorge Silva and J. Pazmino explore different aspects and stories of love.

Returning to the stage in Amor O are several of Paco Gomes’ favorite pieces of repertory. “Love Beyond Body” deals with the societal pressures for romantic relationships and the struggle to validate one’s sexuality. “Conflict” and “Two Minutes Before a Slap in the Face” deal with different ways that loving friends fight and function.
